Dig This Number 1:

There is this guy who is a super-whiz when it comes to programming. Our introduction led me to believe he was a woman-despising, jingo who believed corporate is no place for a lady especially loud-spoken ones like me ( of course I have every right to call myself a lady ). Any of his answers to my questions , be it techy, or just-to-know-if-you-knew kinda stuff, had to end on a sarchy note. Relentless of his intentional snubs my attempts to make conversation continued. Finally when we did come to talking terms, I realized , yet another person had proved that appearances could be deceptive. Here was a guy who shied away from women and shielded himself rather ineffectively behind the mask of a chauvinistic. And as the story goes we did become good friends et all.

It's been close to a year that I've known him now. It's that time of the year when everyone is getting transferred to their hometowns or moving on. On a very casual note, I asked him if he was expecting a transfer. He said "I'm taking UGC * cos I want to shift base to teaching."
What....!!! Did I hear him right? Here is a software Engineer , persay, wanting to walk out on a promising career with lucrative compensation and take to teaching , quote him he wanted to get far from the hypocritical mob... ( referring to the sober guild of the IT ). I can bet my bottom dollar he would be a great technical genius if he ain't one already and he definitely belongs here. I on the other hand find it hard to fit in ( which is another " Dig This" altogether....).It's one of the most sought-after careers which is green n glamorous on the outside and proves to be otherwise once you get in. People who survive the IT are the ones who may never despise it as they know the rules of the game (Why not if they get to set 'em...).It takes little time for a novice to understand that the corporate is but a battlefield not one where you ply your wits but one where you ply your bitching around.

Moral :
It seems so easy to decide what is best for others when we fail invariably stepping in their shoes.
What say ?!!!
*All I know about UGC is that thing that used to be telecast on the regional television channel, which I had to watch coz there was nothing else to watch....!!!
